Do You Remember –

11 Mar

OMP (oh my pig!)  Mommy was cleaning out some childhood boxes here at the Hotel Thompson that she had and came across one of these.  She oohhed and aawwed.  Then her and daddy had to play with it.  Rolls piggy eyes – such simple humans they are – snorts.  Do you remember this?  Did you have one?

Oh WOW! You wrote on them with a special pen and then you could pull the paper up to ‘erase’ everything to start all over. Great entertainment. XOXO – Bacon

Mom had one, but a simple one without peanuts. Miss “Brainiac” used it as cheat sheet, but her plan went awry…

Snorts. Oh that is good. Your mom is very smart! I can see it now. Pulls the paper up and erases everything – what answers? Snorts XOXO – Bacon

Snorticles. You had a special pen that you used to write on the front. When you were done and wanted to write something else again, you just lifted the sheet and it erased everything. There you go – another clean slate to write on. Mommy and daddy use it to play tic-tac-toe on. To funny. XOXO – Bacon

My mommy says she had one of those days, then she started going on and on about “the good old days” before computers and tablets. She said if you wanted to talk on the phone, you had to do it in your house, and standing in one place because it was connected to the wall. What? Then she started saying something about having to get up to change the channel on the television but that it wasn’t a big deal because there were only three channels, and they went off the air at midnight. And that’s when I stopped listening because I knew she had lost it. 🙂

Snorticles. I think our moms are related. She remembers those times as well. She also remembers something that blows my little piggy mind. She said they used to listen to a certain radio channel that told a continuous story every week. What? Huddling around the radio to listen to a story? I know my mom has went over the edge – snorts. No way! XOXO – Bacon

I loved these when I was a child and then my children enjoyed them. I wonder if they still make them? I think now my grandchildren would also enjoy! I’m so impressed mommy still has one. Makes me feel good because I hold onto things from my childhood, too! 🙂

Oh indeed my Mom (and Dad) had those……so much fun…..haven’t seen them in ages though I guess kids these days prefer video games. Too bad…..makes you think about other stuff of the past like paper dolls, Mr. Potato Head……sigh……time marches on!!
