Numbers Are Our Friends

A lot of people look at math and numbers and screech out, “Eeww”!

My mom is different.  It runs in her family.  Her sister is the same way.  They like numbers.  They like math.  They do math problems to relax.  Weird aren’t they? To them dealing with math, is as easy as tying your shoes.  I don’t agree.  That’s why me and dad wear shoes that slip on or use velcro – snorts.  Also to me, dealing with math is like a dog working a yo-yo.  It just isn’t natural, right?

But I have something for you this morning that will blow your mind my friends.  I want you to get out a piece of paper and a pen and/or pencil.  Now, here’s the scary part – pay attention now.  I want you to write down exactly what I say below.  Okay?  I’ll help you out each step of the way.  I learned something while I was gazing at the calendar this morning and it was totally cool.

Write down the number of the month.  This is November so it would be 11.

Now write down the number of what day it is.  Today is the 12.

Now write down the two digit year.  13

What do you have for today when you write it out?  11/12/13

Neat huh?  Who said numbers can’t be fun?  Now go share 🙂

 

BASHFUL’S FIRST DAY DOWN UNDER!

Well..after a good sleep and a fair amount of snoring….yes..snoring…  I heard faint rumblings and went to check on our house guest…..no sign of the little guy…all I could think of was ..great he has travelled over 9 thousand miles and still he wants to keep on rolling!

No ..he hadn’t gone far..just into my Castlemaine Rock…. a unique rock candy made locally for ever….so after a few chats about the dangers of addiction and tooth decay ..we eased into the cold wintry day..think Bashful thought we would be in shorts and t-shirts..poor guy…rug up little dude coldest Spring in 40 years..

After awhile I noticed Bashful was still a bit snuffly…now I know Bacon had told me he had the sniffles but I was concerned..he also seemed a little wonky eyed! hmmmm..ok ..so action plan..

I have to laugh buddy.  They say your kind is slow and not full of spunk but I think *they* are wrong.  You show the tenacity in making the ‘great escape’.  You were so close – how you got that far up on the fence is beyond me but way to go my friend.  Next time though, might I suggest just watching out for the gate to open.  It might be a safer way for your taste of freedom.

What?  Haven’t you ever seen a bird wearing a hoodie before?  It gets cold.  I don’t have a ‘fur coat’ like you do.  My feathers only provide so much for warmth.  I think it’s a great idea.  We should all have one, you think?  Signed Fun Times

I need help.  I know you have Bashful.  Bashful is like a happening international traveling pet rock.  My owner, he just keeps me in a cage and feeds me.  I don’t get that life of first class traveling or anything.  Any suggestions- can you help me out?  Signed Bug

Dear Bug,

I am so sorry little guy.  Your owner must not have gotten the parenting guide like I did with Bashful.  You have to have exercise.  Your owner needs to walk you or at least put a hamster wheel in your cage for exercise.  Does he take you out for social time, watching television?  Heck, if anything else, you need a friend.  You give him my number, I’ll email it back to you.  I’ll talk to him and see what we can come up with my friend.
