31 Days of Spook – Day 20

20 Oct

Welcome to Day 20 of my 31 Days of Spook my friends. Count Baconula here ready to spook you πŸ™‚ As you know, mom/dad are at Tybee Island, Georgia on a short little vacation to destress. They went to dinner last night at the Moon River Brewing Company located in Savannah, Georgia. (This restaurant is located on West Bay Street and about 12-14 miles from Tybee Island.) Here’s a picture of the restaurant from the outside.

This restaurant has been featured on a lot of television shows and is suppose to be super haunted. So of course, mom/dad had to choose this restaurant to eat dinner at last night. See, what adventurers my mom/dad are. They reported everything back to me. First though, a little history.

Moon River Brewing Company is one of Savannah’s oldest buildings that was originally built in 1821. It was the City Hotel and was the first hotel and post office in the town. The hotel actually closed when General Sherman led the union army through Georgia. By the time General Sherman actually made it to Savannah, the town was like a ghost town and the buildings were deserted.

In 1990, the building was renovated and the Moon River Brewing Company was opened. Since then, there have been numerous accounts of hauntings and ghosts. People have seen bottles being thrown, people have been touched, pushed and even slapped by unknown ‘ghosts’. One time, Ghost Hunters actually went to the location and caught on camera the dark figure of “Toby” who hides out in the billiard room playing. Even Toby has been known to push customers or workers.

There’s also spooks on the top floors that are still to this day unrenovated… to us. A glowing white apparition has been seen on these floors that is believed to be a worker who died at the hotel in the late 1800’s. In the 1990’s when the Moon River Brewing Company was attempting to renovate the top floors, the foreman’s wife was violently pushed down the staircase.

So mom/dad braved the stories they have heard and ventured into the restaurant last night. They went for dinner so the lights were down low creating just the right atmosphere for spooks. They saw the bar area, could hear the laughter of customers and workers all who were oblivious to the supernatural happenings – or were they?.

Mom ordered an awesome blackberry Martini and did say it had some wicked spirits in it. I don’t think it was the kind of spirits she was looking for though. Dad said that the waitress disappeared for a while as well but again I don’t think it was supernatural. Dad also said that someone ate all of his delicious Tacodilla too. Personally I just don’t think he remembered eating it because he snarfed it it down so quit because it was delicious – snorts. And just for those few who are wondering what the pig is a Tacodilla – here’s the scoop of what he said. A cheese quesadilla folded like a taco and filled with smoked brisket, pico de gallo and chipotle sauce. It does sound good, huh?

And there was another disappearance they reported. Their money when the check came – snorts. Okay so nothing per say haunted happened during their meal. But they did report that it had the electric feeling of something spooky and would definitely go back. They gave it two hooves up… because anything more they would tumble over – snorts.

Hopefully they will report more later on their adventures. Have a spooky day my friends!

I know such haunted houses too where the money disappears to nowhere, specially when a mom is inside what only wants “to take a look” :o) Thanks for a spooky story, Count Baconula! Maybe “toby” keith and his song “whiskey girl” is the reason for that phenomenons?

Yikes! Well your Mom and Dad were very brave to go to that restaurant. My Mom says she and my Dad walked BY it when they visited Savannah some years ago – she felt “vibes” from it! Is that the same thing as SPOOKY??? Thanks for another shivery story Bacon….you tell the BEST ones!

You got it Sammy. Spooky and vibes are right there together. I’ve seen this place on several television ghost shows. Mommy said she kept getting goose bumps. I didn’t know they let geese in restaurants? XOXO – Bacon
