Mommy came home from the worky place so excited tonight. While she was cooking dinner, she told me some fascinating things like tonight is the last holiday of the year. Geez I missed all of these special days being so young! She then explained that after tonight, we start a whole new year repeating the months we just finished. When it’s explained like that, I understand.
With the holiday being tonight, mom told me that I could stay up late…if I make it. Yawn – I’m already so tired. You know it’s hard having a full day like I do around the house keeping daddy and the purr things in line.
If I stayed up, Mom said that I would get to see magic in the sky. I’m not sure what she means by that and she wouldn’t explain. She only told me that I had to see it to believe it. I guess I’ll have to trust her. She hasn’t led me astray yet in my short privileged life 🙂
Our yearly tradition is to stay up late, make popcorn and watch the big peach drop on television that is downtown Atlanta, Georgia. I’m down with that by being all comfy on the couch with mom. Right now I’m watching LSU and Clemson play on television and posting from my iPad. (I got dad off it long enough from playing his Star Wars Angry Birds to do this post – thanks dad!)
Do you have any traditions tonight? Mom says we will do our New Years Resolutions tomorrow. That should be fun. I’m so excited to be able to enjoy these holidays this year.
Well, if I don’t hear from you tonight, happy New Year and I’ll talk to you next year – snort LOL

Dear Bacon,
HA! I thought this would get your attention. You haven’t done a Dear Bacon issue in what two weeks now? What are you retiring little pig? Couldn’t take the questions? Can’t take the heat anymore – bark – LOL.Â
Hate to say it but your public misses your little issues. So what’s the story pig? What’s up?Â
P.S. If you are ready to retire, I think I can take over just as well. Just sayin’
Signed Spike
Dear Precious Spike,
Stay out of the kitchen dude! I’m still here and rolling. Due to the holidays, I took a little break. I figured my peeps here would understand because they would be busy with their families as well. I’ve been spending a lot of time bonding with my mom. I’ll explain that in another post. Never fear – Bacon is here!

Friends, meet mom – YAY! I know a lot of people ask about her and what she looks like. It takes a special woman to have me… and to put up with me – snort.Â
We did a LOT of mommy/piggy bonding this weekend. My Aunt Tina came home for a visit from Louisiana and she came down to see me. She took these wonderful pictures of me and mommy. Mom takes all of my pictures and it’s kind of hard to get her in the picture when she’s taking the picture. Know what I mean? Well, Aunt Tina took these pictures during her visit.Â
Mom was talking to me in this picture. I was so intently listening because you know, she’s my mom and everything. I was so into this conversation that the next picture will absolutely blow your mind.Â
See, I you that it would blow your mind. I walked over and kissed mom with my snout. See, I love my mommy. And, this is a great picture of me and my short little body. Great picture huh? I thought it was one of those special Hallmark card kind of pictures. So touching. So loving. A pig and his adopted mom – snort.
You do realize that there has to be a story behind this picture, right? I’m not that easy. I can be trained and I did learn a new trick this date that took me only about ten minutes. You’re asking what the trick was. Of course, to kiss mommy. And how was I trained to kiss mommy? Smile – this is going to make you laugh and smile. Are you ready for it?
Â

After a couple of attempts of doing this, exactly who was training who? I was getting fed by mommy so who was tricking who. Mom would put carrots in her mouth and lean over. I would walk over and gently take them out of her mouth. Yep, gently take them out of her mouth. She is my mom. I have to treat her special like.
After about 8 or 10 times of doing this, I caught on – wink wink. I really caught on after the first time but with free food out like that I’m going to take whatever I can take – snort.Â
See, I told you my kind was very smart. We catch on like you wouldn’t believe. And as you can see from these pictures, I’m not really that big.

YAY – It’s weekend time. I’m so excited. Mom got me so spoiled last weekend being off so much. She says that she has to work Monday but after that, she doesn’t go back to work until next year. That’s awesome.
Do you have anything awesome planned for this weekend? Mom says it’s the last weekend of the year. (ppsstt – I’m still not real sure about all of this end of the year stuff… what does that mean?)
I plan on hanging out with mom and getting even more spoiled if you think that is possible – snort. My Aunt Tina is in town. I’m hoping to see her and play with her some as well. It should be a fun weekend.
I hope whatever you have going on that you have fun and be safe. Hogs and Kisses!

I read this beautiful saying and looked at the picture and my little heart glowed. I know I talk about my brother, the purr thing Hemi, a lot. How he thinks he is in charge. How you have to bow down to Master Hemi or suffer the great wrath of him. How he slaps me on the butt with his huge hands. Well, you get the picture.
But on the toss side, I do have a heart. I do, at times, show a little love towards the purr things besides trying to eat them – I’m joking. They don’t taste anything like chicken at all 🙂 but they say I taste like ham – weird huh?
But over the long holiday weekend, I was actually feeling a lot of different feelings in my heart. I think I have finally found a peaceful in between in the household with the purr things. Me and Hemi have bonded… bonded to an unbelievable point in our lives. I could continue to explain it but I think it’s best to show you our new found bond. Well, I hope you are ready for this. I know it took mom back too. Okay, steady yourself… here it comes.

I know. I was as shocked as you were in seeing this. Mom said that he crawled right up on top of me which is highly unusual, snuggled down and started purring. I was so warm with his little body on top of me. Mom said that we slept like this for over an hour. She sat right beside us and watched us while she was watching television and doing stuff on her iPad.
So this proves without a shadow of a doubt that I do love my purr things. I grew up with them and they are my family. When mom adopted me at 3 weeks, she started mixing us together so we would get used to each other.Â

Sometimes the purr things sneak into my room and we all get in bed together to watch my television shows. I know – unbelievable isn’t it?Â
Mom says that this second picture of me and Hemi, it actually looks like Hemi is hugging me. I knew that little butt kicker loved me. I don’t care what he says. In fact, I think he likes my bankie as much as I do. I’ll share it with him… for a while 🙂
Everyone have a wonderful Thursday. Mom says that the end of the year is almost here. Not really sure what that means yet. I’m sure she will explain it more to me later.Â

I had to share this. Mom found this yesterday on iFunny. She started laughing so hard that she woke me up. I was sleeping on the couch and I was like, “What’s so funny?” She then showed it to me and told me what it said. Even I had to do a little chuckle then. This seemed like something I would do… maybe when I was little. I’m all about my food right now.

I so couldn’t help blogging these cat finds. I read them and they so reminded me of my play things – the purr creations. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen them play with a simple box for HOURS! Did you hear me correctly – HOURS! And then they fight over who is going to play with it the most and sleep in it! It doesn’t matter if mom or dad buys them the most expensive toy, they would rather play with the empty box. It amazes me. Of course, these two purr things in my house have also been known to chase their tails like dogs. Now, that is a sight worth watching. Mom should put them on YouTube for your amusement. I’m nothing compared to that kind of comedy.
AND if you have a purr thing or are a purr thing, have you ever given them a green olive? Mom gives them to our purr things and its like they are drug enhanced with that thing. They roll all over the floor purring and groaning. I don’t get it. I’ve had an olive. It didn’t do that to me. You?

This was such an exciting holiday. It was really my first since I don’t remember much about last years being that I was so young. Mom was home for several days and it was all about my mommy. We played and snuggled the entire time. I got extra treats and special dinners.Â
By the time last night rolled around, I was bush whacked. I was so tired that I could barely climb on the couch with mom. She had to help me up. I then stretched and passed out right beside her. She took this picture. I was out for the count. Can you tell from the picture how relaxed I was? I couldn’t help it. It was the most relaxing long holiday that I have had so far.
We watched movies. We napped together. Mom told me stories and read to me. It was by far my best Christmas EVER! I hope you also had a wonderful holiday and got some rest. I know we did!

Merry Christmas my dear friends and family. WOW – I think I love this holiday. I couldn’t remember much from last year since I was only 3 months old. Last night, mom and dad kept trying to get me to go to bed early. They said that Santa Paws wouldn’t come if I was awake. Me and mom put out cookies and milk for Santa Paws. I then went to bed once they put one of my movies on in my room.
Around 3am I heard knocks and sounds in the front room. It was loud enough to wake me up. I wasn’t sure what was going on in there. It didn’t smell like mom and dad. I was fixing to set off the bacon alarm by squealing when I could sense someone outside my bedroom door. It was a calming feeling. I really can’t explain what came over me. It smelled like cookies, winter time and joy all rolled up in one. Under my door, I could see black boots.
Then it appeared. A cookie was slipped under my door. It was one of the cookies I left out for Santa Paws. I then heard a gruff voice say, “Be a good boy Bacon and go back to sleep.” I couldn’t believe it. This man knew my name!? I ate my cookie and snuggled deeper in my bankie. I slept so soundly that it was morning before I knew it.
Who knew that Santa Paws really existed! I was shocked. I do believe!
When I did get up, I’ve been so calm. I’ve eaten my lunch and do you know what mom gave me? A miniature cupcake.

She told me to open my little mouth and I did. She then put this delightful little morsel in my mouth. It was delicious!! The cake was soft and the icing squishes between my teeth. I’ve never had anything like that before. It was awesome and I think I want another one.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day. Right now, I’m stretched out in the sofa with mom watching television.
I love you my friends and family. Hogs and kisses – Bacon

Dear Santa,
Mom says I should write you my letter for the year. Last year, I was still a little piglet and didn’t really know what Christmas was all about. This year I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned that life is about family and love. I’ve learned that it’s not about how much money one has but about staying together and making it work. I’ve met so many friends through my blog Santa. And yeah, I even love my purr things as brother and sister.
So Santa, mom told me I should tell you my wish list for Christmas. This year for Christmas, I want nothing for myself. I have everything I could ever wish for at the Hotel Thompson. I have loving parents who love me even if I get on the naughty list 🙂
This year Santa, I want you to give my wish to my friends and family. I would like for them to be healthy, loved and touched with your blessings for 2013. That’s my wish list for Christmas.
Hogs and kisses,
Bacon Thompson
